As a member of the neighborhood association I would like to propose a snow removal project.
As a result and in response to the record snow fall and the closing of our streets earlier in the year there was a "good neighbor" collaboration on clearing the side-walks and our alley on the 1200 block of Greenview/Cleaver was passable and clean the next day.
If we as neighbors come together in putting salt on the sidewalks, parking areas and street we may be in a better situation.
- Clean your sidewalk
- help others clean - especially seniors, who may not be able to physically do it
- help others clean around their cars
- an idea would be to move snow halfway into the sidewalk and street to be able to keep clean the street side of cars
- another idea would be to park all the cars in a diagonal position during heavy snowfalls in the winter months; thus, allowing for easier navigation in and out of parking spaces
- Block by block we could discuss the possibility of hiring a snow removal service for the alleys, since the City of Chicago does not provide for them to be cleaned.
If you have any other ideas please let us know.
